Folk Medicine in Hispanics in the Southwestern United States contributed by Nancy Neff, M.D.
Peruvian Indians and most Indigenous people have knowledge that is helpful and not detrimental to the human race. Thr AMA (capitalism) create doctor induced iatrogenics. Medically and with drugs. DSM the bible of the doctors and pharmaceutical companies. While most of their family members are killing each other in school shootings, druging of our kids setting up our families for institutional abuse. I'm part anglo but it is not something I can say that I'm proud of because of the way they exploit their power. They use Federal government money to pay the State employees to take our children. I believe through the Americans with Disabilities Act we are entitled to protection. Especially when we have a family member who is disabled.

considering the 1-year filmmaking program at the International Academy of Film and Television. Need insider's opinion.

Education

Jamie here, i've been interested in film making ever since i got my own handy cam in 7th grade. Didn't pursue my passion until about two years ago when i decided that i wanted to take film making from being a hobby to being my full time career. I put together my ideas and plans and went out to find funding, that didn't turn out so well as I wasn't formally trained. I'm now based in asia, teaching English as a Second Language, and i'm scouting for some film schools in the region. One school that caught my attention is the International Academy of Film and Television .I was hoping anyone in the forum is currently enrolled in any of their film programs, i would really like to hear an insiders opinion.

Italian student needing help for survey

Education

I'm Silvia, an italian student needing your help to graduate! Let me explain: I'm working on a research for the last exam I have to pass in order to graduate, and the subject of this research is the relationship between Latinos and the American Educational System.

I should interview( 5-6 simple questions about your relationship with school, nothing more than that!) students and teachers living in the U.S., but I actually live in Italy so I find it very hard to get real subjects for my interview!

Can anyone help me,please? I really need it and I would really appreciate your intervention..If you are interested please reply to this post including your e-mail address (or tell me to send mine) and I will contact you.

Increasing Latino Teachers

Education

The NEA reported a couple of years ago that there is a gap in representation among minority teachers. For Latinos the school populations nationally is 16% while only 5% of teachers are Latino. In Northwest Arkansas we have started an initiative to help the public schools increase their Latino teaching staff. We would like to hear your ideas on the topic. Our plan has three parts; 1) grow our own through scholarships, 2) help to transition professionals to a teaching career, and 3) to recruit from states that have larger numbers of education graduates and provide transportation and other benefits to encourage them to consider Arkansas.

How to Obtain Your Federal Student Loan Information

Education

Borrowers looking to take advantage of the Student Loan Consolidation Program  are finding it more difficult to complete the application as lenders no longer have the ability to pre-print the loan information.

The National Student Loan Data System (NSLDS) is the US Department of Education’s central database for student aid. It houses data received from schools, guaranty agencies, the Direct Loan program, the Pell Grant program, and others. Due to some recent policy changes, access to the system has been suspended for all lenders and NSLDS can no longer be used to determine the eligibility of a consolidation loan borrower.

Latin Americans in Gifted Education

Education

Latin Americans are horribly under-represented in gifted programs throughout the country. There is virtaully no literature on the needs of gifted children from this community. It is one more way that our children are marginalized and kept from the best careers and high-paying, innovative jobs. I would love to talk to anyone who is interested in this topic. I am in Denver where I am working to find ways to ensure the identification and placement of our students in programs that challenge them and bring them to the forefront of our educational system.
