Brazilians speak Portuguese not Spanish thay are not (Hispanos)
The Brazilian language is of latin oragen of the (Portuguesas) language (Spanish) is too latin. Portugal is in the (luso) peninsula regon next to the the (Iberian) peninsua regon of Spain. so therefore Brazilians are latino but not Hispano. For the moste part they are (Brazilians).

We're all just people
True, Portuguese is a different language than Spanish, both sharing similar roots. But then again, Brazilian Portuguese is markedly different from that of Portugal. I have known and met many Brazilians. They are on the whole some of the warmest and happiest people I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. While they may or may not be considered Latinos, they are definitely NOT Hispanos, as by definition Hispanos speak Spanish as their native language. While an interesting subject of intellectual discussion, I'm afraid that such topics have a propensity for being more devisive than constructive. Ultimately, we're all just people of different nationalities and various cultures and are better served by working toward personal and collective improvement than by exploring, outlining, and gravitating to our cultural differences.

can i just ask what the difference is between hispanics and latinos???? soz im very confused i thought they were the same thing? i guess not........please fill me in. peace one love
That's a Touchy Sunject
I somewhat agree, Brazilians are not "hispanos" per say. However, the language is of latin origin. Not to mention that the country is in South America aka Latin America. This is actually somewhat of a touchy subject considering you are defining a culture by the language spoken in a country. I think your analysis would have to go more in depth prior to making such generalizations. I do feel many people mistake Brazilians for speaking Spanish rather than Portugese but I wouldn't begin to classify whether they are "hispanos" or not. Although that may be subject to opinion or open for debate. However, I would check my spelling prior to posting such a post.

I agree with what you just posted. And I also agree with the intent of the original post. I have traveled at least 25 times to Brazil and know it well. I have also been in Portugal, I have family in Huelva jus southwest of Portugal. First a geography lesson...there is no Luso Peninsula. Portugal is on the western side of the Iberian Peninsula. It is makes it an Iberian country if there is such a thing.
Brazil is a complex country whose identity is class based as well as race based and not just by language alone.
They are in manny ways different than many of the Spanish speaking and not just in language.. but in many ways they share similarities. Isn't Cuba different than Brazil than Argentina than Bolivia?
