What other methods should i take?
Hi, well I am a college student. In approx. 1 year I will be graduating, and I have tried everything in my power to network within my field. I am currently studying a double major Language and World Business specializing in International Finance. My question is that I want to pursue the career of civil service in other words foreign diplomacy, or possibly work for the World Bank the problem is that I live in Michigan and really nobody knows were to direct me. If anybody knows who to contact or what methods/paths I should take I will greatly appreciate it.

World Bank
Yadi,
The World Bank has the Young Professionals Program, that can be a good starting point, if you are younger than 32. You can see more of that program here: http://lnweb28.worldbank.org/hrs/careers.nsf/key/ypp and a Junior Professionals Program BUT they specifically state that this program "is not an entry point for a career in the World Bank and employment beyond the initial two-year contract will be prohibited for a period of two years after the end of the contract." You can see more on these ones in: http://lnweb28.worldbank.org/hrs/careers.nsf/key/jpa
Also, they have an internship program, but it seems it is closed till September.

Yadi--if you are interested in a career is civil service, you ought to go to the State Department's website-www.state.gov. Once there, you should look at the employment section. From there, you will be given information on how to go about applying. Browse around the website and and read up on all the information to see if it's something you really want.
