How to get back in the work-force

Hello everyone,
I'm new here to this forum and I reside in beautiful Saint Augustine, FL. I've been out of the work-force since 2003. I have my A. S. degree in Business and I am going to school for my Health Services Management Degree.
With my past background having owned my own business my title VP-Administrator and managerial background, I can't seem to get my foot in the door of anyplace! Total amounts of interviews "1" for medical assistant number 7 in line didn't even get that position.
It's difficult for me to go backward and try for an entry level position. I know I have been out of the work-force for a while so I will most likely not be able to get a position like I had right away. What can I do to get my resume read and to attain an interview? All help would be greatly appreciated!
