Bilingual Obesity Prevention Program Launched in FL
HOPE (Hispanic Obesity Prevention Education) is a recently launched free obesity prevention and education program. It is available to all Floridians (financed by the Florida Department of Health) and their website is in English and Spanish.
The program promotes increased physical activity, healthy eating, and eating appropriate portion sizes. The main benefit of the program is increased knowledge about how to achieve a healthier lifestyle, through improved eating behaviors and increased physical activity.
The first step to begin the HOPE program is to take a FREE nutrition and fitness evaluation that is available on their website: www.HOPEflorida.org.
The evaluation, created by medical experts and nutrition and public health professionals, is designed to assess the individual’s daily eating and physical activity habits. After completing the evaluation, each individual will receive a personalized plan that will provide them with valuable feedback, to help them learn what they are doing well, and which habits are preventing them from reaching their diet and fitness goals.
The evaluation only takes approximately ten minutes to complete. Each person that completes the FREE HOPE evaluation will also discover how to reach their ideal weight and nutrition and physical fitness level, as well as receive a free exercise DVD!
