Shared Values - Professional growth - Relationship building - Inclusiveness - Service - Integrity - Culture Chapter History ALPFA Atlanta Chapter Kick-Off By Patricia Rubirosa On September 23, 2003, the Association of Latino Professionals in Finance and Accounting (ALPFA) formally launched the Atlanta chapter. The celebration took place from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 P.M at the Wyndham Midtown Atlanta, 125 Tenth Street NE, Atlanta, Georgia. Ernst & Young LLP sponsored the kick-off event. Manny Espinoza, retired senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers and ALPFA's CEO, was the keynote speaker. ALPFA is the leading professional association dedicated to enhancing opportunities for Latino professionals and students in accounting, finance, IT and related professions. ALPFA offers professional development opportunities, including Continuing Professional Education, career guidance, community service, networking opportunities, mentoring relationships, and scholarships for students. The event created the perfect environment for social networking and an overall dynamic experience. Approximately 80 students, and professionals and community leaders attended the kick-off event. Manny Espinoza gave a motivational presentation about ALPFA's history, mission, and vision and also provided information about the 2003 Annual National Convention, which was held in Albuquerque, New Mexico. ALPFA is the successor of the American Association of Hispanic Certified Public Accountants (AAHCPA), the first national Latino professional association in the United States. The organization was initially established in 1972. ALPFA serves 19 chapters across the United States.
