LISTA - Latinos in Information Sciences and Technology Assoc
Not-for-Profit
Latinos in Information Science and Technology Association (LISTA) was founded in New York City, New York in 2000 by a group of nine technology professionals employed at various companies and businesses throughout the city, They were extremely concerned about the lack of Latino presence and representation in the information sciences, telecommunications and technology industries and decided to do something about it.
LISTA was founded and inspired by Jose A. Marquez- Leon, and Chris Rodriguez, two technology advocate with over twenty years of service to the Latino community after the two met in New York City at an event at the United Nations.
Their objective was to form a national organization of information sciences, telecommunications and technology professionals to serve as role models in the Latino community and develop relationships to help our community reach higher goals in math, science and technology and help conquer the digital divide.
The concept of support is the key basis for the LISTA organization. LISTA quickly established professional chapters in NY, NJ, CT, Washington DC, Florida, Texas California and Georgia to begin the network that continues to grow nationally as well as reach countries outside the United States. Today, LISTA remains committed to excellence and providing a wide spectrum of resources to members, corporate sponsors, businesses, educational institutions and the community. The organization is a catalyst for leadership, professional growth, and technical development for our community.
