Since 1910, the Boy Scouts of America (BSA) has helped build future leaders of this country through educational and outdoor adventure activities combined with lifelong values and fun. While the major focus has been the development of young men, the BSA also offers coeducational programs, such as Venturing, that benefit both young women and young men. What Professional Scouters Do
Several thousand professional Scouters lead, guide, and facilitate the efforts of more than a million adult volunteers who carry out the Scouting mission. It’s the job of the professional Scouter to inspire, recruit, train, and support the BSA’s volunteers, while also working with community leaders and rallying public support for Scouting’s activities.

The District Executive is responsible for the overall growth, extension, quality, program enhancement, and supervision of the Scouting program with a specified geographical area. This position achieves this through the identification cultivation, recruitment, guidance of corps of adult volunteers whose purpose is to support train, and motivate adult volunteer leadership who deliver the Scouting program. Public relations fundraising administration are vital additional functions.

You will serve as an executive manager of a geographic territory within the local council designated as a district. You will be responsible for:

• The effective organization, operation and promotion of the council program within the district, and responsible for the achievement of district objectives, including measurable, realistic goals.
• Giving staff guidance to the cultivating, recruiting, training, and inspiring of volunteer personnel for the district.
• Coordinating the work of the district’s volunteer personnel so that their efforts strengthen and extend the Scouting program offered by chartered organizations and related units.

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelors Degree from an accredited college or university
• United States citizenship or declared intention to become a U.S. citizen
• Adult – must have attained age 21 unless prohibited by any applicable law
• People-oriented, having the ability to work well with adult volunteers, community and business leaders, and representatives of other organizations
• Able to work varied hours when necessary to achieve positive objectives
• Believe in the BSA and subscribe to its principles and standards
