The NCI Cancer Information Service (CIS) is seeking Cancer Information Specialists with strong verbal and writing skills. Information Specialists respond to inquiries to 1-800-4-CANCER, 1-877-44U-QUIT, email and LiveHelp inquiries to www.cancer.gov. Required skills include: information needs assessment; excellent customer service; adherence to behavioral research protocols; electronic documentation; comfortable with navigating NCI and other health information databases. BS/BA in biology, health education, nursing or other health-related field. Prior experience in a call center or in a health care environment preferred. Computer proficiency in searching the Internet, email, Microsoft applications and fast typing skills are essential. Skill in the use of telephone and computer communication technologies. Must successfully complete the National CIS Training course. Consent to participate in the National Call Monitoring Program. Participate in 12 hours of department provided continuing education per quarter and successfully meet the National Cancer Institute's screening requirements.
