Safety and Environmental Engineer

Job Description

Statement of Function:

To support the facility in the areas of safety, regulatory compliance, industrial hygiene, worker's compensation, environmental protection, security, fire protection, and ergonomics.

Responsibilities:

-Advise, support, and partner with the facility management team in providing a safe and healthy work environment
-Provide expertise and guidance on regulatory compliance and Michelin policies
-Design and conduct safety training for ANSI, NFPA, NEC, OSHA, etc.
-Develop, implement, and participate in Safety, Ergonomics, and Industrial Hygiene Programs
-Assist engineering and maintenance with designing, reviewing, and accepting equipment during modifications and/or new installations
-Evaluate injury statistics and suggest actions for accident reduction
-Assist and advise line management in maintaining safety awareness and a positive attitude towards accident prevention
-Coordinate activities of plant safety committees and Michelin Emergency Teams
-Perform additional duties as assigned
-Provide practical support to the facility in safety practices such as hot work, confined space entry, hazard communication, bloodborne pathogen, laser safety, accident investigation, radiation safety, etc.
-Perform additional duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Requirements:

- Bachelors degree in Occupational Safety or related field
- 2-5 years experience in safety or related function in a manufacturing environment
- ASP or equivalent certifications would be a plus
