On-line Research Participants Needed
If you are over 18 years of age and identify yourself as African/African American, Asian/Asian American, Hispanic/Hispanic American, or Native American, you are invited to participate in this research study, the goal of which is to create a better understanding of the experience of racial/ethnic minorities in the United States.

The battle for the Hamptons. The Southampton Press is about to launch a new Spanish-language weekly, Nuestra Prensa (Our Press), on the East End of Long Island. This is the second Spanish-language weekly to announce launch plans this spring in what is likely to become a battle for the Hamptons.  Earlier this week, ad man, restaurateur and East End newspaper publisher Jerry Della Femina said he was going to start publishing a free Spanish weekly called El Independiente, starting in April.

Nominations for the Diversity Executive Leadership Program. Nominations for the Fiscal 2004-05 Diversity Executive Leadership Program (DELP), designed to help individuals from underrepresented segments of the association community advance in the profession, are now being accepted. The deadline for submission to ASAE of allied society nominations for the FY04-05 DELP is April 9, 2004.

AIRS - New York Times Diversity Recruiting and Retention Summit, March 1, Dallas. The Summit series will be visiting 10 major metropolitan cities, offering regional and national speakers, small group workshops and a Networking lunch which all focus on promoting multi-culturalism in the work force through recruitment and hiring strategies. The Third Annual Mexico Business Roundtable, March 16, Mexico City. The Third Annual Mexico Business Roundtable will gather the country’s most successful senior executives to discuss today’s business climate and the changes influencing corporate progress and profits. Topics to be discussed include how Mexican companies can stand out in the global competitive landscape and financial services within the US-Mexican market. For more information click here.

United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce 14th Annual Legislative Conference, March 24, Washington DC. This annual conference brings together Hispanic elected officials, Members of Congress, government leaders, influential Hispanic entrepreneurs and members of corporate America to discuss the most current and critical issues affecting the Hispanic business community.

Leadership

  • Alberto Ibarguen. Alberto Ibarguen, Publisher of the Miami Herald, has been named chairman of the board at PBS, which oversees the nation's public broadcasting stations. Ibarguen, a PBS board member for six years, was previously an executive at The Hartford Courant and Newsday.

  • Marisa Murillo. Has been appointed to serve as regional president of the Hispanic National Bar Association. The Hispanic National Bar Association represents the interest of Hispanic attorneys, judges, law professors, law graduates, law students, legal administrators, legal assistants and paralegals in the United States.
