Insurer agrees to pay restitution for race-based pricing
American National Insurance Co. has agreed to pay more than $3 million to thousands of black and Hispanic consumers nationwide whose policies were affected by race-based pricing, Insurance Commissioner Jose Montemayor said Wednesday.   > more >

IRS Offers Penalty Refund for EFTPS Enrollment

How much it costs for Latino immigrants to send money back home?
The Pew Hispanic Center released a detailed evaluation of how much it costs for immigrants to send money back home to their families in Latin America. The study revealed that although the cost of transferring money has dropped since the late 1990s, the rate of decline has slowed markedly in the past three years.

  • David Ibarra: Fontana Police Officer David Ibarra has been named "Officer of the Year" by the National Latino Peace Officers Association. Ibarra is a field training officer responsible for mentoring and teaching young officers. He also has experience as a crisis negotiator in tactical and hostage situations. The ceremony for the National Latino Peace Officers Association was held recently at the Doubletree Hotel in Ontario.

Hispanics, now the largest minority in the United States, could determine the outcome of this year's presidential election, a star Spanish-language television anchor said in a new book.
