Rep. Courtney Combs, sponsor of an Ohio House bill to designate English as the state's official language, expects the measure to draw fire from the state's Hispanic community, but claims that such opposition underscores the need for a common language.

Southwest Airlines Launches First Travel Award Program for College Students
Through this new initiative, Dandole Alas a Tu Exito/Giving Flight to Your Success, Southwest Airlines will provide tickets for distribution throughout its 60 city network to students with socioeconomic need who travel away from home to pursue a higher education.

Florida hospital seeks Puerto Rico interns for Hispanic patients
Medical students at the University of Puerto Rico will serve internships at an Orlando hospital as part of an agreement to attract personnel who speak Spanish and understand the culture of a growing Hispanic population in central Florida.

Ideally we would like an individual who has done QCA activities for Voice related systems in Spanish (i.e. IVR or web based platforms). Mercury Test Director experience is a must.

  • Angel Martinez, has been named President and CEO of Deckers Outdoor Corp. Mr. Martinez was previously serving as executive VP and CMO of Reebok International.


  • Javier Benito, former Coca Cola and Procter and Gamble executive Javier Benito has been named executive VP and CMO of Starwood Hotels and Resorts Worldwide. In his new role, Mr. Benito will be responsible of all aspects of the company's worldwide marketing.


  • Armando Ojeda, former president and CEO of the U.S. Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, will replace Renaldo Jensen as director of Ford Supplier Diversity Development (SDD). Mr. Ojeda joined the US Hispanic Chamber of Commerce in 2004 and was responsible for advocating on behalf of the nation's millions of Hispanic-owned businesses.
