NSHP Diversity Job Fair Makes its Way to the Windy City

Harvard Study Finds Hispanics Tend to Get Segregated Care
Elderly Hispanics throughout the country tend to get inferior care, according to a recent Harvard study. The study reported that Medicare data from 2004 reveals that hospitals with high percentages of Hispanic patients tend to have slightly lower quality indicators in three crucial areas: heart attacks, congestive heart failure and pneumonia.

Language Plays a Role in Discrimination Story
According to a story reported by the Rhode Island news, a store owner requested to see a customer's proof of citizenship after hearing the customer speak Spanish. As the owner was ringing up the customer's purchase, he demanded to see the customer's social security card.

Overweight Hispanic Kids Show Early Markers for Diabetes
A small U.S. study found that obese Hispanic children and adolescents with normal blood sugar levels had elevated markers for blood vessel inflammation that may put them at risk for both type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.

He owns Williams Paving Company, Inc, which had a $32.4 million increase in revenues between 2005 and 2006.
