Making the Best of Who You Are

coverThe Latino Advantage in the Workplace is an interesting career advancement book that focuses on how to overcome negative stereotypes and taking advantage of positive ones. Written by Mariela Dabbah, (also author of  "Como conseguir trabajo en los Estados Unidos") and Arturo Poire, a senior human resources executive at a global financial corporation, the book considers various Latino cultural traits, such as adaptability, respect for authority, and a tendency to speak indirectly. The book is full of practical examples, career tips and exercises that will help readers connect with their cultural background to use their innate characteristics to advance in their careers.

Dabbah and Poiré, worked on the book for about a year before its release . Now "The Latino Advantage" is already in its second printing and is available in English and will be available in Spanish in May.

And while aimed at Latinos, non-Hispanic managers will find its observations helpful as well.
