The National Association of Hispanic Nurses' National Scholarships, which are for one academic year, will be awarded to outstanding Hispanic nursing students enrolled in a nursing program. Recipients will be selected on the basis of current academic standing and financial need. The recipients for the scholarship awards are Hispanic nurses who demonstrate potential for professional contributions to nursing and through their actions will serve as positive role models to Hispanic nursing students. To qualify for the scholarship award, the applicant must be currently enrolled in an accredited school of nursing, and be a United States citizen or legal resident of the United States.

The criteria for selection includes:
Must be of Hispanic Descent/Ethnicity
Academic excellence: minimum GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Potential for leadership in nursing.
Financial need.
Membership in the National Association of Hispanic Nurses.
*Past Scholarship recipients are ineligible to apply, unles they are currently enrolled in a higher nursing degree program
*Scholarship Applicants can only apply for one National NAHN

Scholarship or Award category Procedure:
Letter of support from one (1) faculty members (sent directly to NAHN or inserted with the scholarship in a sealed envelope with signature of faculty member across the flap).
A current official sealed transcript (sent directly to NAHN or mailed seperately)
A one-page typed essay by student addressing criteria for selection.
Completion of financial screening form: income vs.expenses. 2005-2006
National Scholarship Award Application form (one form 100% completed and 4 blinded forms missing sociodemographic information (name, address, city, state, phone #)

One copy of all application documents including the one copy of the sealed transcripts.
