NSHP Diversity Job Fair in NYC a Success!

On April 24th, NSHP hosted our first Job Fair of the year in NYC. The event was held at the Metropolitan Pavilion from 10 am to 3 pm and more than 1200 candidates were there. With over 30 employers and exhibitors attending, job seekers had the opportunity to interview with top companies seeking diversity and bilingual candidates for hundreds of professional positions.

Spanish-speaking Jobseekers in Demand for 2008

A recent survey of U.S. hiring managers and human resource professionals suggests that Spanish-speaking job candidates will be in especially high demand by employers within the next year.

The online survey was conducted by an online job search site for the Hispanic community. It found that 48% of hiring managers are hiring Spanish-speaking job candidates in 2007 and 2008.

Wal-Mart was honored for its continued commitment to provide the best career opportunities for Latinas. Foreign-Born Latinos Make Progress on Wages

According to a new report from the Pew Hispanic Center, foreign-born Latino workers made notable progress between 1995 and 2005 when ranked by hourly wage. The proportion of foreign-born Latino workers in the lowest quintile of the wage distribution decreased to 36% from 42% while many workers moved into the middle quintiles, according to a new analysis of Census Bureau data done by the Center.

While Latino workers moved out of the low end of the wage distribution and into the middle, Asians significantly boosted their presence in the high-wage workforce.

It is very interesting to see how things really work. We listen to attorneys and politicians discussing about how important diversity is for the economic development of countries.
